The privacy-focused open source voice assistant designed to work with Home Assistant in a local network environment.
Out of stock
Home Assistant Voice Preview Edition is the open source, privacy-friendly voice assistant designed to connect seamlessly with Home Assistant and herald the future of voice today.
Its advanced audio processor and dual microphones allow it to listen to your commands and control your devices. The touch controls, injection moulded casing and LED ring give it a high-end look that allows it to blend into the home.
Designed for the home assistant
This is the first voice hardware designed by the team behind the development of Home Assistant, and built from the ground up to work with Home Assistant.
Get a head start on the future of voice today
Home Assistant is making rapid progress on its privacy-focused, open source voice assistant for the home. The Preview Edition is designed to allow more people to participate in development and to give everyone a preview of the future of voice today.
The easiest way to start using Assist
Simply plug it into the USB-C power supply (cable and power supply not included) and it will connect to Home Assistant through an intuitive setup wizard. No assembly required.
The private voice assistant
Pairing Voice Preview Edition with Home Assistant's powerful hardware can allow it to run completely locally, or offload its audio processing to Home Assistant's privacy-centric cloud. It also includes a hardware mute switch that physically cuts power to the microphones.
Language support
Assist aims to support more languages than other voice assistants, but it's still in development and Home Assistant needs your help. See the supported languages in the Assist documentation for Home Assistant.
Advanced audio processing
Dual microphones and the XMOS audio processor remove unwanted noise so you can hear your voice clearly.
Visual and audio feedback
Multi-coloured LED ring indicates when you're listening, volume levels and more. Speaker provides sensor readings, timers and other information. Connect an external speaker for media playback via its 3.5mm headphone jack.
Physical controls
The rotary knob allows you to control volume and LED brightness, while the multifunction button can activate the assistant or be customised in Home Assistant.
Blends into the home
Its compact and discreet design is injection moulded, giving it a high-end look and feel, as are its touch controls.
Expandable
Based on ESPHome, sensors can be added via the included Grove port.
Fully open and community-driven
The software, firmware and hardware are completely open, so you can make it work the way you want it to. All supported by a community dedicated to customising and adding features.
Note: Voice Preview edition requires Home Assistant to work. Underpowered Home Assistant hardware can slow down voice processing. If you have a low-powered Home Assistant, you should offload voice processing to Home Assistant Cloud.
