Fingerprints technology is found in hundreds of millions of devices and applications, and is used billions of times every day. This technology offers secure and convenient fingerprint identification and authentication. In our DoorBird IP video door phones and IP access control devices we combine excellent biometric performance and security with good quality components and a capacitive touch sensor.

New fingerprints can be conveniently recorded using the DoorBird app or our web administration tool at https://webadmin.doorbird.com. If an access right needs to be revoked, a remote fingerprint can also be erased in real time. Access rights can be limited to certain days and times. Thus, it can be determined who is authorized to enter the house or the building and when. Furthermore, you can individually define which action should be executed for each fingerprint, e.g. connecting relay 1 or 2, driving an IP I/O door controller, accessing an HTTP(s) URL, arming or disarming an alarm system, opening a smart lock, or triggering an event in the automation system of the building.

The fingerprint reader does not lose its functionality even in extreme weather conditions, for example during hot or cold weather, because it has been specifically designed to withstand them. To ensure error-free detection, the sensor surface must be dry and clean. In terms of safety, comfort and speed, the capacitive touch sensor with full image reading has a higher efficiency than linear models and also supports a lower mounting height.

Data protection and security

The reader does not save fingerprint images, but only stores one template per fingerprint in the form of a mathematically calculated hash value. This means that our system meets the highest data protection and security standards. In addition, the fingerprint reader has a mechanism that prevents tampering attempts and temporarily locks the system after multiple unauthorized access attempts. To further increase security, the reader itself does not have any built-in relays. The biometric characteristics are not transmitted to the DoorBird IP video door station, the app or the cloud. Instead, with the DoorBird IP I/O door controller A1081, which is connected to a DoorBird IP video door station, a disconnected relay can be connected safely.
